Make your own mosquito repellent free from chemicals!
It is time to make some mosquito repellent spray! I am one of those who get these huge itchi bumps after mosquitobites, so this is a necessity for me to get through the summer!
It is so easy and fun, and especially great to do when I know those store bought products contains a lot of harsh ingridients that I don't want on my skin.
There are many essential oils known for being excellent natural insect repellents. For fighting away mosquitos I use - citronella/lemon, eucalyptus, peppermint, basil, thyme and lavendel. I also add juniper and tea tree oil because ticks and fleas hate that!
For a 4 oz spray bottle, fill 2 ounces with distilled water. Add 1 ounce of vodka, then about 50 to 70 drops of essential oils, any combination you want of the oils I mentioned. Adjust as you go to get the fragrance you want - but be sure to not add more drops than 70! Then add a few drops of jojoba oil so it is more gentle to your skin!
Voilà - you now have your own safe mosquito repellent spray! Mix well before each use, and enjoy the summer!
